The Project

Through interactive and immersive experiences, the Oman Across Ages Museum will tell the country’s story from late prehistory to the present day. It will be a place of exploration, dialogue and research attracting and engaging Omani youth in the story of their nation - along with visitors from across the country, region and around the world. Forging a bridge between past and future, the space will transcend knowledge of the country’s achievements in an innovating, informative and interactive manner.

What we did

Barker Langham developed and managed the content for the museum, working alongside world-leadings specialists to provide research and expertise to inform the interpretation of 218 historic and contemporary exhibits. We explored archives and collections in Oman and across the globe to source assets, conducted oral history interviews, developed a learning programme, branding and digital services. Our Business Planning team also prepared the detailed financial and operational plans for the museum, including all human resources, recruitment and training plans.

The outcome

We successfully appointed the Museum Director, and a number of other key positions within the senior management team. The museum is in production and due to open to the public in 2020. The culmination of an ambitious and collaborative process, the Oman Across Ages Museum will comprise a series of public and professional spaces that combine world-class galleries with conservation and research facilities. A true legacy of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos’s inspirational leadership.
